Mindful Monday: Find your Joy

Every day we can practice mindful awareness. Tuning into our breath, honoring who we are just as we are and knowing that we are loved. Sometimes we may miss out on accessing our joy, what makes us feel vibrant, alive and happy. Do you remember your childhood years? When you were always smiling, having fun outdoors or the tinniest thing like a butterfly brought you joy. You were curious, for a moment you thought about what it would be like to be a butterfly, to fly anywhere you wanted, free to explore everything.

There are many ways we can access joy. Begin by finding something that generates the feeling of joy within you. This could be a small meaningful gift someone has given you or it could be something from nature. Joy can reside in an activity you love, something you read, or a piece of music. Joy can reside in the smallest thing. When you feel yourself in need of joy, turn to one of these sources. Listen to that song, do a Downward-Facing Dog Pose, draw a picture, go for a walk-hold that object in your hands or in your heart to remind yourself of the sensation of joy. You always have access to joy.
Wherever the day takes you today, find some joy.
